Set in an idyllic location, Mortimer Cottage is a 17th-century, Grade II listed, thatched cottage. It lies in the centre of the picturesque village of Wootton Rivers, just 5 miles from the delightful market town of Marlborough. Since the property was originally two cottages, there are two steep staircases which lead to the first floor, accessed via the dining room and living room. On the ground floor, this detached cottage has a spacious open plan kitchen/dining area with breakfast bar, a living room with wood burner for the winter evenings, a utility area and shower room. Avebury is 5 miles away, as is the centre of Marlborough with its range of great restaurants and pubs, along with a variety of high quality and independent shops offering a unique blend of modern attractions and facilities. The high street is one of the widest in the UK and offers a twice-weekly market on a Wednesday and Saturday. These lovely, semi-detached barn conversions are situated just outside of the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury, and close to the iconic prehistoric stone circle of Stonehenge, which stands on the grassland of Salisbury Plain. This is a great base for families or groups wanting to explore this part of the country, as there is so much to see and do. It is only 30 minutes to the coast with the lovely sandy beaches of Bournemouth, or there are plenty of sites and National Trust areas with beautiful walks and lovely bike rides in the New Forest, you will be spoilt for choice.
The Old Stables are situated within their own grounds and form part of a collection of four newly, and stylishly converted barns. The walks that surround them are widely renowned to be some of the best in the area and include Bentley walks with its famous Bluebell display, Hound Wood, and Blackmoor Copse with its many deer that roam and nature ponds.
The Old Stables 1 (ref UK32045) is mainly on one level, with just one bedroom on the first floor with a vaulted ceiling and traditional oak A-frame beams, all other rooms are on the ground level, with open plan living, dining and kitchen. With York stone flooring throughout and terracotta tile in the kitchen area to create a comfortable rustic feel. There is a vaulted ceiling and beautiful oak beams.

The Mill Lodge is beautifully situated between the picturesque villages of Garsdon and Charlton and a short distance to the charming market town of Malmesbury. This stunning cottage is located off a tree-lined drive on the estate of a former water mill, where the owners reside. Surrounded by stunning views and beautiful countryside, this really is an idyllic base for exploring all that Wiltshire and the Cotswolds has to offer.
The recently renovated (2023) Mill Lodge has been lovingly furnished and equipped to a high standard throughout and includes fantastic indoor and outdoor spaces for relaxing and enjoying the wonderful surroundings. The living room features a Smart TV and comfortable sofas, as well as a wood burner for cosy evenings indoors. On the ground floor, you will also find a bedroom with a kingsize bed and en-suite shower room, whilst upstairs are two lovely bedrooms, with the first having 2x extra-long single beds, alongside a kingsize bedroom and a family bathroom.
The property has both front and back gardens with the front mostly laid to lawn. The back garden enjoys a south-facing patio and lawned area overlooking willow trees, parkland and the former Mill, which is ideal for outdoor dining or barbecuing. The detached conservatory offers a further seating/eating space. There is a private tennis court open all year round and bookable for a three-hour slot each day. There is a heated, outdoor swimming pool (open between the beginning of May until mid-October) which is also available for guests’ exclusive use for a bookable two hour slot each day. A footpath/bridleway runs past The Mill Lodge, which you can use to enjoy walks in the countryside and observe the abundant wildlife including numerous deer, pheasant and on most occasions, the owner’s flock of rare-breed Cotswold sheep.
The Mill Lodge is situated three miles from the charming and historic market town of Malmesbury. Here you will find a plethora of independent gift shops, restaurants and a stunning 12th-century abbey, as well as supermarkets and a town hall that shows recent cinema releases. Nearby, there are quintessentially English villages and lively market towns with breath-taking landscapes and scenic trails, gardens and bridleways waiting to be explored. It makes an ideal base for exploring a myriad of fascinating attractions including the elegant city of Bath, the Roman town of Cirencester, Westonbirt Arboretum and the antique shops of Tetbury. For those looking for watersports or lake walks, Cotswold Water Park is within easy reach, whilst Lacock Abbey, Bowood House and Dyrham Park are also well worth a visit. On the first floor are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, the other with twin beds, and also a family bathroom. On the ground floor you will find the open plan living area with wood burner and kitchen, which is well equipped with brand new appliances. There is also a spacious double bedroom and shower room off the main hall. Enjoy a cosy evening in front of the wood burner, sit back, put on the Sky TV and relax after a busy day of exploring.
Outside to the front of the property is a small garden with a seating area and barbecue, perfect for enjoying the evening sunshine. Dogs are welcome and are to be kept on a lead outdoors. The garden is not enclosed, however there is a large green to the front of drive and peaceful walks on the doorstep.
The property has been converted in 2023 for guests to enjoy a fabulous time away from home. The centre of the historic market town of Devizes is just 3 miles away with its array of shops, eateries, amenities and the famous flight of 29 canal locks. The village pub which serves good home cooked food, is a five-minute walk away, with an excellent array of other options within half an hour’s drive. The village also has an excellent farm shop.
The Granary makes the perfect base for families or couples wanting to discover what Wiltshire has to offer. There are lots to do locally including plenty of walks and many places of interest to visit. Bath, with its world-famous Roman baths and relaxing spa (19 miles), Salisbury (25 miles), Stonehenge, with its visitors’ centre (16 miles), Marlborough (17 miles), and Silbury Hill and Avebury (both 12 miles), are all within easy reach. The picturesque villages of Castle Combe and Lacock, both frequently used as film and TV locations including Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, are within 20 miles. Nearby attractions include Longleat House and Safari Park (22 miles), Bowood House and Gardens with its fabulous adventure playground and spa (8 miles) and other National Trust and English Heritage properties.
