Dog-friendly The Battlesteads Hotel in Northumberland is a three-star country inn nestled in the pretty village of Wark. The Battlesteads is the perfect spot for a pet-away with your canine companion. Set on the edge of the magnificent Northumberland National Park, canine companions will love roaming the surrounding countryside on days out. Winner of the Highly Commended award in the North-East Tourism Awards 2017 for Dog-friendly Accommodation, The Battlesteads has a traditional country atmosphere with beamed ceilings, stylish rooms, delicious home-cooked food, and a cosy open fireplace. There is also a lovely, large walled garden for four-legged guests to run around on or off-lead. After a long day of exploring, head back to the pub and bar where you can sample local ales and beers or work your way through the wine list while Fido tucks into a bowl of water. The food menus serve locally sourced produce, complimented by homegrown fruit and vegetables.

Dine with Your Dog

Furry friends can dine with you in the hotel’s bar, lounge and outdoor areas, but if your pet prefers to relax, they can stay in your room whilst you eat. Head chef Eddie Shilton uses only local ingredients to create fresh, flavoursome modern British dishes as well as some international choices. Many of the salads and side dishes are made using herbs, vegetables and fruit from the hotel’s kitchen garden. Water bowls and treats are available for furry friends at the bar.

The Battlesteads Hotel is located on the edge of the Northumberland National Park so your four-legged friend will be spoilt for choice with wonderful trails and tranquil landscape to explore. England’s largest forest, Kielder Forest is a 40-minute drive away and fabulous for a day out! Hadrian’s Wall is also around 40 minutes away and a must-visit with your pooch whilst you’re in the area. If your canine is missing the beach, the Northumberland Coast is only an hour east. Cresswell Beach, Alnmouth Beach and Cambois’ North and South beaches are all dog-friendly year-round.
