A classic Lakeland slate building, this dog welcoming Inn has recently undergone a full refurbishment and offers a stunning location to stay in the Lakes.

Your dog is welcome to dine with you in the cosy bar area of the restaurant which offers the same menu. Here you will be able to sample local real ales and sit with your best furry friend on the sunny terrace in the summer. You can also enjoy a full Cumbrian breakfast, snacks, or more hearty meals and the Sunday Carvery is recommended with generous helpings of hand-carved meats. There is also a Sir Woofchester’s dog menu for four-legged friends.

Dog-Friendly Nearby

The Inn features fabulous views of the Old Man of Coniston so we recommend you hike up this fell! This can be a circular route of approximately seven miles. From the summit, there are excellent panoramic views of surrounding hills and fells including Black Combe around the Pennines taking in the Scarfell group to the North. You will then go on to explore Dog Crag, Buck Pike, and Brown Pike on your descent back to Coniston. Or you could walk around the Lake which is a 16-mile circuit or just walk part of the way along the Cumbria Way! Visit the dog-friendly Bluebird Cafe with views onto the lake.
