Overview
Just as village cricket is the hub of an English rural community, so is the dog-friendly Cricketers gastropub at the heart of the charming village of Clavering in Essex and is also super dog-welcoming. Steeped in history, the bar and dining areas have been sympathetically updated, inspired by the original 16th century fabric of the building. Brickwork and beams have been complimented by copper, wood panelling and restful colours and textures, The bedrooms have been redesigned with botanical inspired fabrics, wallpapers and paints. You can dine with your dog in the dining room where they offer delicious seasonal fayre and have been awarded a Michelin plate. There are wonderful walks from the door in and around Clavering and the dog-friendly Aubrey Buxton Nature Reserve is also close by.

Location & Local Attractions
The medieval village sits on the river Stort and is surrounded by fields as far as the eye can see - perfect for a dog-friendly getaway. There are seven village greens: Stickling Green, Starlings Green, Roast Green, Sheepcote Green, Birds Green, Deers Green and Halls Green - home to the village cricket club. Clavering retains much of its olde world charm with thatched cottages and wonky timber framed houses. The history of the village runs as far back as Norman times with the remains of Clavering Castle still visible as ringworks and earth works. Also visit Aubrey Buxton Nature Reserve which welcomes dogs.
