Steeped in history, Middleham Castle was once the home of Richard III and its remains are a popular attraction for tourists. Also well known for its horse racing links, guests will be able to watch the world class racehorses being ridden through the centre of Middleham and out into ’the gallops’ at the edge of the village. The barn is also close to East Witton, a quiet village with two pubs and from which you can enjoy a pleasant, low level walk to Jervaulx Abbey.

A little further afield but still within walking distance, guests will find footpaths leading up hills and down dales, through natural, unspoilt woodland and open countryside, to many attractive Yorkshire towns and villages situated just a few miles away. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty really does offer some of the most magnificent scenery and stunning views, and should be visited at all times of the year just to appreciate the sheer beauty of the landscape. Guests will find an abundance of top quality local inns and restaurants offering fresh, local produce and comfortable surroundings. The Forbidden Corner is only a few miles away and really must be explored by guests of all ages.
