Driving to dog-friendly Downsview Place from London or the South Coast, you pass through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. This delightful six-bedroom property is situated in the dreamy West Sussex village of Stoughton, offering uninterrupted views over Stoughton Down and Kingley Vale. This outstanding property is a hidden gem awaiting to treat you and your furry guests to a wonderful, stress-free dog-friendly holiday in the countryside. It's the perfect spot for adventures with four-legged friends in the South Downs National Park and for visits to Chichester, the Witterings, and exploring the beaches in Brighton and Hove.
Attractive on approach, this characterful house sits within a manicured walled garden with parking and an integrated garage. Its impressive entrance hall boasts a turning staircase, designed by British architect Giles Gilbert Scott, which rises up to a galleried landing. The interiors are super stylish, with each space carefully curated with fine artworks and furnishings in harmony with its surroundings.
The sitting room forms the oldest part of the house and was the original village pub back in 1708. It features parquet flooring, sumptuous furnishings, and a cosy wood-burning stove. The airy and generous dining room sits alongside the bespoke kitchen, looking out to the glorious garden beyond. The kitchen is well-equipped with every appliance, including a standard oven, induction hob, and Aga.
The three comfortable king bedrooms include the principal bedroom suite, one double, one twin, and a single room (a favourite for many). All the beds are dressed in quality cotton linens and deep mattresses. All guest bedrooms share the use of a beautifully appointed family bathroom with panelled walls and a shower over the gleaming white bath suite. Fluffy towels and luxury soaps ensure you have only the loveliest creature comforts for your stay. The views over Kingley Vale are breathtaking, and they are completely private from neighbouring homes. The large garden is perfect for four-legged friends to play. There is a vast amount of storage in the walk-in wardrobe, and the bathroom has a deep freestanding clawfoot Victorian bath.
The house is situated in a charming village with lots of dog-friendly pubs for you and your dog to visit, including the Hare & Hounds, which serves local ales and hearty food. Right within the South Downs National Park, there are numerous trails for you and your dog to explore, including the West Copse and Kingley Vale circular walk and the Racton Folly. Also, visit Kingley Vale Nature Reserve, Chichester, as well as East and West Wittering beaches.
