About this property

Approached down a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Oswaldthistle, Duneane Cottage is a charming base for a rural getaway to this fabulous part of Lancashire. With a traditional décor over three floors, this welcoming abode is perfect for families and couples seeking a break from normality. After a day of walking, look forward to lounge in the sitting room, complete with two sofas and open fire, along with a TV with Freeview for some light entertainment, it’s a lovely spot to unwind. Move into the kitchen where you’ll find the AGA cooker standing tall, along with a host of other appliances and a dining table for mealtimes, here you can prepare home-cooked meals and toast to a long-awaited break with loved ones. Off the kitchen is a handy utility room where you can wash your muddy clothes after a day’s exploring. As the night comes to a close, there are three well-presented bedrooms to choose from, including a king and single on the first floor, served by a refreshing bathroom, while there is also a double on the second floor. To the exterior of this Lancashire getaway is an enclosed patio where you can enjoy an alcoholic beverage or two. The town of Oswaldtwistle boasts plenty of history and culture, along with a collection of pubs and restaurants for when you fancy a night away from the kitchen, and several convenience stores for the essentials. Those looking to get their steps in can visit Gisburn Forest for walking and biking trails, as well as the nearby Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland for an abundance of scenery. Visit the National Trust’s Gawthorpe Hall, an Elizabethan home which displays fascinating art and textile collections, set in beautiful grounds, while the Towneley Art Gallery & Museum, set in a stately home, hosts Victorian and Pre Raphelite art as well as local history. Take in the delights of this Lancashire region while staying at Duneane Cottage.

The little town of Oswaldtwistle rests in southeast Lancashire and is not far from Blackburn. The town is home to a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is around a half an hour from the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which offers plenty of excellent walking country. Cutting through the town is the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, once used for exporting cotton, it now offers a scenic way to explore the area on foot or on bike.
