Four-legged friends get an extra warm welcome at the Dunes Hotel is situated in the South of the Lake District. As the name implies is it just walking distance from the sandy dunes of Roanhead - a fabulous National Trust beach perfect for doggie frolics across a three-mile expanse of sand. Nestled in 18 acres of private land and manicured lawns there is plenty of space for your dog to run around before exploring the endless open spaces, trails, rivers, and footpaths that the South Lakes has to offer. There are 10 dog-friendly rooms at the hotel on the ground floor and there is also an excellent coastal-themed restaurant, the Coast. Barrow, Ulverston and Dalton town centers are also no more than a 10-minute drive away. Local attractions include south lakes safari zoo, the ruins of Furness Abbey and the popular Lake District attractions of Bowness and Windermere are a 30-minute drive away.

Dine with Your Dog

You can dine with your dog in the main bar and in the pet-friendly part of the Coast restaurant. With charming bright coastal themed decor, the food is locally sourced and signature dishes include Stornaway black pudding, aubergine arancini, chicken & leek pie pot or duck char sit. There is also naturally plenty of fish and seafood including Roanhead Beach battered haddock and fresh Scottish salmon plus vegetarian options, steaks, and artisan burgers. The restaurant bakes their own pizzas.
