Fern Cottage is a large, light, 3-bedroom Cumbria cottage with all of the modern comforts you would need for a dog-friendly stay in the Lake District. The cottage sleeps up to 5 people and up to 2 dogs. The cottage has been decorated beautifully, with a focus on retaining character with the lovely oak beams, but also with a modern twist. You'll find high-speed internet throughout the home as well as access to Netflix and Amazon Prime on the 50” living room television. Relax in the beamed living room with an open fire whilst playing an old board game or binging on the latest Netflix series. Cook up a feast in the kitchen diner and enjoy a nightcap in the conservatory. Then make your way up the traditional cottage stairs, taking a couple of big steps to the first floor where you’ll find 3 calming bedrooms that sleep 5, along with the bathroom with an over-bath shower.

The Kitchen & Living Room

The kitchen is well-equipped and large enough large enough to cook family meals with your pooches at your feet. The kitchen also features a dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer and a dining table which seats up to 5 people and space for your furry friends to lie at your feet. After a long day of walking, you can wind down in the comfy living room - stretch out on the plush sofa or lay back in the leather armchair and switch on the TV for a cosy movie evening.

Bedrooms & Bathroom

The spacious master bedroom features a comfortable kingsize bed, plenty of storage and a comfy chair. The second bedroom has two twin beds and plenty of hanging space. The cosy and beautifully-decorated third bedroom contains a single bed and a chest of drawers. The cottage features a family bathroom which has been tastefully decorated with beautiful artwork. Here you'll find an over-shower bath, fluffy towels & luxurious toiletries. There is also an open wood-burning fireplace for those winter months. If you still need to get work done, there is a quiet corner that includes a desk and work chair, making it the perfect spot to work (and gaze out into the garden).

Conservatory & Garden

In warmer months the conservatory is the place to relax, read a book and forget the stresses of everyday life. The conservatory opens out onto a very pretty, and secluded, enclosed garden.

Dog-friendly in the Area

Nestled in the beautiful village of Great Strickland in Cumbria is Fern Cottage, the perfect base in the Lake District National Park. You'll also be ideally placed to explore the Eden Valley and Yorkshire Dales National Park. Penrith is a quick drive away and here you'll find a variety of excellent shopping options, including supermarkets, delis offering a range of local produce, many arts and crafts shops, a cinema, and a range of dog-friendly restaurants. The nearby Strickland Arms is super dog-friendly and highly recommended by the property owner. From Penrith, there are numerous walks and fells that your dog will love! Don't miss the Ullswater Way, a 20-mile walking loop around Ullswater that can be walked in either direction and from any starting point. Plan for a full walking day out as there’s plenty of on route stop-offs, sights and a generous amount of resting place to take in the impressive views. For a shorter walk, hike around the Brothers Water in Upper Patterdale. Or take a cruise across Ullswater on the dog-friendly Ullswater Steamer with stops off at Pooley Bridge and Glenridding.
