With its history rooted in the 1800s, the building functioned as a coaching inn for the Earl of Portsmouth, then later became a fishing lodge for salmon fishermen due to its close proximity to the river.

We recommend the rear facing rooms which overlook the hotel's lovely gardens and have views all the way over the river to Heywood Forest and up to Eggesford Church, or the ground floor rooms with their own patios and private access to the grounds.

Heywood suite is a ground floor spacious suite with mini kitchen, deck overlooking the garden, double ended bath plus separate walk in shower, private access to and from the garden and stunning period features. Many years ago this was the original coaching inn bar and has been transformed into one of our most light and airy luxury bedrooms.
