Off the sunny kitchen and dining area, head up three stairs and into the sitting room, with a snug open fire, gather here in the winter months with a hot chocolate and a book to enjoy the true tranquillity of the property, or in the summer months the back garden makes a great spot for unwinding on the patio while the dogs run around on the expansive lawns. Fishing can also be found along the river below the cottage, but be sure to bring your rod licence.For a longer walk and the chance to explore the scenes of Somerset, head to the Tarr Steps Woodland National Nature Reserve, whether you’re visiting for a short stroll or a full day of hiking, this beautiful area is well worth a visit. For the history lover, take a trip to the coast where you can find Dunster Castle, a National Trust area boasting dramatic scenes of an ancient castle with 1,000 years of history, subtropical gardens and even a steam train; a fabulous day trip for all the family. Withypool is a fantastic village, located on the banks of the River Barle and surrounded by open moorland it makes the perfect place for a walking holiday. the local area is quiet and quaint, with just a small local shop and tea rooms, it's a very peaceful area. In the village you can also find the wonderful North Devon Hawk Walks, the best place in the area for bird watching and nature spotting, as well as the walk of Two Moors Way passing through the village. You can also find the coast fairly nearby, making for a fabulous family day out; there's something here for everyone in this village in the heart of Devon.
