About this property

A lovely, stone-built, three-storey townhouse located in the centre of the small hamlet of Gayle, just a short walk from the centre of Hawes, North Yorkshire. Decorated to a very high standard, this charming cottage is a superb base for a small family or group of friends to get together and enjoy a break in this wild and rugged corner of the Yorkshire Dales. The front door leads into the well-equipped kitchen with dining area which has a beautiful slate floor and a modern Range cooker. The adjoining sitting room is a real delight, with individual styling and luxurious modern furniture, all set around a stone fireplace with a cosy woodburning stove. The first floor boasts a single bedroom with useful stacker bed, a spacious king-size bedroom and a stylish shower room, ensuring guests have that something a little bit extra. The top floor features a spacious family suite with great flexibility, in that it can be a luxurious large room for a couple with a super king-size bed, a family room with super king-size bed and separate single bed, a twin room or alternatively a great room for three children with a three single bed configuration available. Next to the bedroom is a modern bathroom with a delightful freestanding bath. All bedrooms boast snugly memory foam mattresses and feather-filled duvets. Throughout, the accommodation has a bright and cheery feel, created by the attention to detail the current owners have put into this first class holiday cottage. To the rear of the cottage is an enclosed courtyard area with great views of the surrounding countryside, an ideal place to relax with a favourite tipple. The village is famous for Gayle Mill, a restored 19th century state-of-the-art sawmill, complete with Victorian machinery, and driven by water-powered turbines. Visit the waterfall at Duerley Beck, which runs through Hawes and is spanned by an old and narrow bridge, or cross by a ford at the point where the ducks and geese congregate. There are also two other waterfalls, Gayle Force and Aysgill which can be visited. Nearby Hawes is a popular holiday destination with a wide range of amenities including shops, pubs and tea rooms and, the not to be missed, Wensleydale Creamery, which is just a short stroll from the doorstep. Contemporary styling throughout, with a subtle hint here and there of the historical past, makes this delightful cottage a great place to stay.
