About this property

Set in an idyllic riverside setting lies dog-friendly Idle Waters, a luxury timber-framed 16th-century cottage on the border of north Essex and Suffolk. Perfect for small families or couples, this home-from-home is nestled in the heart of the Dedham Vale - loved by generations of artists and known affectionately as ‘Constable Country’. In fact, the cottage features in the John Constable painting entitled ‘The Vale of Dedham’, currently on display in the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh. Having been beautifully refurbished, Idle Waters comprises an open plan fully fitted kitchen and dining area with doors leading out onto the lovely garden, as well as a sitting room with bay window overlooking the river, inglenook fireplace and comfortable leather sofas. Upstairs, the cottage has two delightful bedrooms with views over the river Stour. Award-winning restaurant Le Talbooth is on the other side of the river with Milsoms, a contemporary bar and brasserie just a short stroll away and Milsoms brasserie is just a few minutes away. The perfect location for walks on the doorstep, you'll simply love strolling along the river Stour with your four-legged friend as you take in the glorious surroundings.

Dine with Your Dog

Idle Waters comes with a gorgeous open plan kitchen and dining area, and there is even a well-established farm shop in the village which stocks just about everything you could possibly need for home cooking! Dine with your dog at Milsoms brasserie just a five-minute walk away, either on the terrace in the summer or in the lounge area. Alternatively, all of the nearby pubs are super dog welcoming and allow dogs in the bar as you dine.
