Just a little further afield there’s Matlock, with a range of shops, pubs, restaurants and fun family attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom. Magnificent views down the gorge can be enjoyed from the cable car that takes visitors up to the Heights of Abraham - a great place for all the family with its show-caves, nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. South of the town is the start of the High Peak Cycle Trail, whilst to the north is the market town of Bakewell, as well as Chatsworth House and Park and Haddon Hall. Carsington Water is also close by and offers fantastic watersports, not to be missed by outdoor enthusiasts.
