Only a bone’s throw away from Lake Windermere and the centre of Ambleside, dog-friendly Rothay Manor in the Lake District makes a wonderful base for a holiday with your dog in the national park. Originally built in 1823, you’ll enjoy a stylish step back in time as the Manor Hotel still retains much of its Regency style.

Set within two acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, if you and your pet are looking to relax this is the perfect dog-friendly hotel for you.

There is an abundance of Lakeland walks and fabulous swimming spots right from the doorstep. Perfect for active pets and the hotels dedicated dog shower / wash room will come in very handy!

There are seven dog-friendly rooms at Rothay Manor and all have been designed with you and your dog’s comfort in mind. As well as all the necessary amenities, each of the dog-friendly rooms have external access or a small enclosed courtyard for your four-legged friend to stretch their legs.

Superior Courtyard

The Superior Courtyard is located on the ground floor within the Regency building, and the patio doors open to your own private enclosed terrace with access to the hotel driveway. Ideal for walkies! The room has a super king size double, and can be twinned if necessary. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a freestanding bath and separate shower.

Dine with Your Dog

Rothay Manor’s 3AA Rosette restaurant serves nothing but freshly prepared and locally sourced dishes. The head chef Daniel has won Great British Menu and you’ll enjoy flavours of Cumbria and places farther afield with the hotel’s diverse menu. Furry friends can dine with you in the Brathay Lounge, but if your pooch would prefer to relax, however, they can stay in your room.
