At the heart of this wonderful property is a hand-built kitchen, including a large induction cooker and oak topped kitchen island around which you can enjoy a glass of wine with friends and family. Opening out from the kitchen is a dining area that overlooks the extensive gardens.
The large, raised decked area is an ideal spot from which to savour the views whilst having an aperitif or dining al fresco on a warm summer’s evening. There is a range of garden seating and sun loungers in the garden. The lovely view over the gardens can be enjoyed from the tastefully styled bedrooms, with the large master bedroom being a particular feature, with its own dressing room and en-suite bathroom. In the small bedroom at the top of the stairs, a section of the original wall construction is exposed. The 4 bathrooms are well fitted, one of them has a roll-top bath with super Moroccan themed tiles. High quality linen and beds are throughout.
The ever popular New Forest is part of the National Park and is a haven for wildlife, with many roaming ponies across the heathland, extensive walks, cycling and riding routes. There is plenty to do in the area for all ages, all year round. The popular sailing town of Lymington is only a 10-minute drive, with its pretty harbour, open-air lido, cobbled pedestrianised streets, boutiques, eateries, pubs and day trips to the Isle of Wight on the ferry. Other places of interest include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bucklers Hard, Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig at Paultons Park, New Forest Owl and Otter Park and Southampton with its maritime history, to name but a few! Perhaps best of all are the surrounding walks into the forest without getting in the car. Salters Cottage is also within easy reach of many beaches, including Mudeford, Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. Shop ½ mile and pub ¼ mile.
Pool AvailabilityThe pool is available from the Friday that precedes the 2nd bank-holiday in May (typically this is the last Friday in May)) and closes on the last Thursday in September. During this time, the target temperature is 29 C, however this is dependent on the outside temperature and good use of the insulating cover. 1 pool towel per guest is included within the rental income.Outside of these dates, availability is through private arrangement with the owner.The hot tub is not available for rental use. Things to be aware of about Salters Cottage - ADDITIONAL CHARGES- A security deposit of £250 per week or short break is payable by bank transfer to the owner 2 weeks prior to your holidays, for late bookings please contact the owner by email salters-cottage@outlook.com . This will be returned within 10 days of departure providing all is left in good order. The first basket of logs for both wood burners is supplied free of charge from the last Friday of September to the first Thursday in May, remainder available locally at cost. There are 3 steps down to the living room and some low beams at this property. There is an unfenced small stream 40 yards from property. The studio on the ground floor has a sofa day bed (for guests with restricted mobility, this can be offered as superking or single bed on request, as an alternative to the twin bedroom on the 1st floor. Please request at time of booking) and an en-suite shower room.A maximum of 4 bedrooms may be used, and 1 superking option. Up to one dog only. The swimming pool is 10m x 4m and 1.1m to 1.9m depth with a roman end and shallow steps and safety cover - open 8am-9pm (please don't use any later than 9pm) and available from last Friday or bank holiday weekend, whichever comes first, in May until last Thursday in September. Please note that at the deep end of the pool, there is a drop of 120 cm from the pool surround (approx. 1.5 metres wide) to the grass below, and that this is not fenced. The house and property are entirely non-smoking.
