About this property

Perfect for families wishing to escape to the tranquil countryside, The Old Mill is an enchanting Grade II listed cottage set on the outskirts of the quaint village of Jacobstowe over looking the river, near the town of Okehampton, Devon. Set over two floors, the cottage is decorated and furnished to a high-standard with an inviting ambiance allowing you to feel at home during your stay. Upon entering the cottage, there is a characterful exposed stone entrance porchway, and it is from here that you delve into a fairytale dwelling. Stepping inside, you will be delighted to find a exquisitely traditional dining area, which flaunts a large, stone inglenook woodburning fireplace, traditional oak panelled beam details, cosy wall lights, and oak dining seating for six, where you can dine with family in style. Continuing to impress, following to the left of this room is a spacious sitting room with a sofa bed to accommodate two more guests, an additional large inglenook woodburning fireplace, traditional beams, a lovely rug to rest your feet, and snug armchairs and sofas to unwind on. Here, you can look forward to cosying up to the warming fire on those chillier evenings or plan your next big adventure during your stay. Beyond this is a wonderfully-fitted kitchen with further beautiful stone and beaming details, quaint windows, and well-appointed appliances, including an electric oven with ceramic hobs, a fridge/freezer, ceramic sink, a dishwasher, microwave, and a washing machine for all your utility needs. Completing the ground floor is a contemporary bathroom, fitted with a WC, hand basin, and a shower over bath where you can indulge in a relaxing soak. Climb the stairs to find a pretty room with king size or twin beds, complete with appealing decor and furnishings including wooden beams, a chest of drawers, a TV, and an open-plan contemporary en-suite shower room with a WC, hand basin, and shower cubicle, enclosed by a privacy screen. Step through the hallway and you'll be charmed by the wonderful wooden shelving units with quaint ornaments and books, which leads to an admirable super-king-size bedroom, featuring a TV, ample wardrobe space, dressing table, a characterful low window, and a contemporary en-suite shower room, which includes a WC, shower cubicle and a hand basin. This first-rate home-away-from-home offers splendid outdoor spaces, including an attractive enclosed garden, patio, and parking area which can be accessed from the kitchen. The cottage benefits from a fabulous riverside location, offering a communal garden where you can bring a packed-lunch and walk down to the bridge and the river and immerse yourself in the tranquil surroundings. The property also has fishing rights over one third of a mile of the river. Immerse yourself in the coast and countryside of Devon with a stay at The Old Mill Holiday Cottage.
