A short drive will take you to Darlington with a selection of restaurants, pubs and shops, as befits a large thriving town. A little further afield, explore the splendid countryside around Richmond and Barnard Castle, enjoying the classic Dales landscape of dry stone walls, rivers and valleys. This is perfect walking country for those wanting to explore the upper valleys of Middleton-in-Teesdale, incorporating the well-known Cauldron Snout and the High and Low Force waterfalls.
