The town is only 10 miles from the historic county town of Exeter, with its spectacular cathedral, the historic quay, boats to take you to tucked away pubs, kayaking and canoeing, and Killerton House, with its splendid gardens. 10 miles in another direction is Torquay and the English Riviera, with its numerous tourist attractions, including award-winning Paignton Zoo, the model village, steam train, boat trips to Brixham and lively nightlife in Dartmouth. For hiking, cycling and the great outdoors, Dartmoor National Park is only 15 miles to the west.
