About this property

A former 19th-century barn, dog-friendly The Cartshed in Suffolk has been lovingly restored into a spacious and welcoming holiday home – high ceilings and wooden beams still intact. You’ll find panoramic views from every room, as well as underfloor heating, a wood burner and a fabulous U-shaped sofa. On sunny days, throw open the floor-to-ceiling glass doors and enjoy the spectacular scenery with a cool drink – and your furry friend of course! Despite its name, Wilderness Reserve is less rough country and more Downton Abbey! Set within a 5,000-acre estate of rolling parklands, woodlands, lakes and landscaped gardens, this is the ultimate dog-friendly retreat for those looking to disappear for a weekend.

Dine with Your Dog

A self-catering property, the open plan kitchen has all the mod-cons you’ll need and you can prearrange to have the cupboards and fridge fully stocked for your arrival (at an extra cost). If you don’t fancy cooking – then you can hire the resident chef to come and cook some delicious fare for you. If you do want to venture out, there are a number of dog-friendly pubs, including The King’s Head in Yoxford and The Bell in Saxmundham. And if you find somewhere that is not so pet-welcoming, your furry friend can be left in the property unattended.

Bow wow factor

Has to be its fantastic setting! Canine companions will love roaming the 5,000-acre estate – off lead!

Bedrooms & Suites

The Cartshed features four en-suite bedrooms, sleeping up to eight people. Each comes complete with king-size Hypnos beds, exposed timber frame details, walk-in showers or freestanding roll-top baths and stunning views. You’ll struggle to leave until it’s time to socialise! Downstairs, the open-plan living area is what dreams are made of. Think deep sofas, comfy throws and an iconic Ergo Focus wood-burning stove - perfect for chilly evenings.

Dog-Friendly Nearby

For days when you want to venture off the estate, we recommend a visit to Southwold or Aldeburgh – both are only a short drive away. Wilderness Reserve offers a pet-sitting service at £17 per hour (must be booked in advance of the stay).
