Found the hotel lovely with beautiful views and walks. Dinner was delicious. Staff on the other hand were quite sarcastic and off hand. We were then charged double for our drinks at dinner. When my partner asked about the prices he was given a 10 refund which was no where near the correct amount we were due back. Not the kind of service you expect from a hotel of this caliber.
2 night stay
The location and surroundings were stunning. The reception is very grand and relaxing. We were in standard rooms and they were ok but dated, very comfy bed. TV only had a few channels working unfortunately.
Spa and Pool was ok but again in need of a facelift.
Went for a game of Golf on the pitch and putt course, again lovely surroundings but the course itself is overgrown.
Food - breakfast was good, plenty of options. We had the 3 course dinner deal which was very underwhelming. Small portions, the view from the restaurant was beautiful though.
Staff - The staff on reception were very polite and helpful. Some of the the other staff were quite rude and unprofessional, one in particular was going round reception asking other staff for a lighter for her cigarette in front of guests. A waiters packet of cigarettes fell out his pocket in the middle of the restaurant whilst taking food orders. I'm sure it's not the impression such a grand hotel wants it's staff to leave on its guests.
I don't believe our stay was value for money given the level of service, dated rooms not to mention the extortionate drink prices.
Stunning location, shame about the prices and service!
Booked a 2 night midweek stay as a luxury treat. Room was great in terms of stunning views and space but pretty tired looking throughout and needs some of the huge income it must take in spend on an update. Breakfast were nice but I have to say that neither of us enjoyed the evening meals. I had a salmon terrine that was inedible. I told the waitress who responded with that s a shame . We were speechless. Both had fillet steaks. Okay but I d bet my salary that the chunky chips and onion rings were from the freezer shop. For the prices, that s just not in. Got a tea and latte coffee to go for our journey home. Absolute rip off at 10.50 (and he left the team bag in). All in all, pretty disappointing for what it s billed to be!
