Perfect location
The hotel is in an excellent situation and the amenities are very good. We particularly enjoyed the tennis facilities.
The restaurant food was good and there were different menus on both nights
Our superior room was lovely, it was light, spacious with a luxury feel. The en suite was modern with white soft towels.
The pitch and putt was basic and would benefit from some attention . The museum was fascinating.
Due to COVID the spa and pool were unavailable as expected.
Very poor hotel
We stayed two nights for my wife's special birthday the rooms were ok the service in the restaurant was shocking the food was average at best when we went for breakfast there were chips and other food lying on the floor from the previous evening altogether this was not what I expected from this hotel when we made a comment about the service in the restaurant we were told to speak to management attitude was not good from some of the staff not all I would like to add the bar staff were very pleasant I have stayed in far better hotels for a lot less money
Not what I expected
Just spent 2 days at the hotel to celebrate a friend s special birthday. We were very disappointed with the restaurant and lack of atmosphere. There was nothing on the menu that my friend liked so we asked if we could change our second nights dinner to a bar meal. We were informed that this was not possible as we had booked a package of 2 nights bb and dinner. On our 2 night we choose not to have a starter just a main meal and a sweet. We were provided with our main course promptly but were last in the restaurant to receive our sweet. Therefore it took over 2 hours to be served 2 courses Service left a lot to be desired

How to get here
By Train
Pitlochry Station is on the main rail line between London, Edinburgh and Inverness. Regular trains, and one overnight sleeper train, run through Pitlochry from London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Direct trains between London Kings Cross and Pitlochry run twice daily making London just over 6 hours away.
The station at Pitlochry has a bridge that can be difficult to negotiate for visitors with disabilities. Scotrail will make sure that you have all the assistance you require if you contact them in advance. It takes around 15-20 minutes to walk to Atholl Palace Hotel from the train station. Please bear in mind it is an uphill walk.
By Car
Approaching Pitlochry from the South, take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. After passing the Blair Athol distillery on your right, continue under a railway bridge and turn right into the Atholl Palace entrance. From the north , take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. The A924 is the main street through Pitlochry. Continue right through the town and turn sharp left just before the railway bridge.
Getting to Scotland By Air
The closest major airport is Edinburgh, at just over 1 hour away by car. Dundee also has a small airport, which is approximately 45 minutes drive away. Glasgow international is 90 minutes away and Prestwick 2 hours.
