Dated hotel
Atholl palace could do with a lot of updating and safety issues being sorted out. My friend and I were on the third floor and ALL the three window in the room were painted shut my friend and I tried in vain to open all of the windows in vain (I kept thinking about Cameron house and the negligence of staff there when it went on fire) there was a ring on the floor next to one of the beds which we presumed was for a non-existent safety rope to escape should there be a fire !!! We reported this when we were checking out and a member of staff who was in reception said our customers don t like the windows open as we get the bugs in !!! It was November for gods sake in the Scottish highlands. Although in an emergency I would still like the option of escaping . This is a safety issue that needs addressing especially as they have log fires in various places

Thank you for your feedback. Apologies that that the windows were stiff in room 323 but they certainly do open as I have personally gone to check on them since your stay. The rings you are referring to within the room are dated from when the window cleaners used to scale down the building, we now of course do not send anyone out the windows like this due to health & safety.

Lovely hotel
Had a lovely few days here at Atholl Palace Hotel. A beautiful room with lovely views. Chilled Prosecco awaited our arrival which we thoroughly enjoyed. The two time slots for dinner work very well. Dinner was most enjoyable with a different menu each evening. A good selection in the buffet breakfast, nothing was a bother for the staff. The three log fires in the main entrance and lounge are a welcome sight especially in November! Just stunning to sit by the open fire. We shall certainly return again!

Brilliant hotel
Stayed here last week with friends to celebrate our Golden Wedding we were given a lovely room on the third floor and when we went in there was an ice bucket with a bottle of Prosecco two boxes of chocolates and a card wishing us a happy anniversary, so lovely and much appreciated. We had lunch in the bar and just enjoyed the lovely decor and views all around, dinner at night was lovely as well. We visited the museum down stairs after breakfast and it was really interesting.
Loved our stay and will definitely be back.

How to get here
By Train
Pitlochry Station is on the main rail line between London, Edinburgh and Inverness. Regular trains, and one overnight sleeper train, run through Pitlochry from London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Direct trains between London Kings Cross and Pitlochry run twice daily making London just over 6 hours away.
The station at Pitlochry has a bridge that can be difficult to negotiate for visitors with disabilities. Scotrail will make sure that you have all the assistance you require if you contact them in advance. It takes around 15-20 minutes to walk to Atholl Palace Hotel from the train station. Please bear in mind it is an uphill walk.
By Car
Approaching Pitlochry from the South, take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. After passing the Blair Athol distillery on your right, continue under a railway bridge and turn right into the Atholl Palace entrance. From the north , take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. The A924 is the main street through Pitlochry. Continue right through the town and turn sharp left just before the railway bridge.
Getting to Scotland By Air
The closest major airport is Edinburgh, at just over 1 hour away by car. Dundee also has a small airport, which is approximately 45 minutes drive away. Glasgow international is 90 minutes away and Prestwick 2 hours.
