Stayed last year with opl not as good this time food room and service were mediocre

Not what you expect

Arriving at 14.15 we were told it was not possible to get into our room until 15.00, yes it says 15.00 is check in Time but it was clearly just a ridiculous rule. The ONLY time you could eat was one of 2 sittings, 18.00 or 20.00, not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The food was excellent, but the time just did not suit us.

The worst hotel during our holidays in Scotland

Mind you I do understand when problems occur as I was working in the hotel business as well. But this hotel can't even compete with a hostel rather with a rundown B&B. From the moment we arrived until our departure the stay amas unpleasant. Dinner reminded me of by the 70ies when UK had a bad reputation about his "cuisine". Rhe service was sloppy and I don't know if I should call it rude politeness or polite rudeness. Cutlery was not clean and one morning there was even lipstick on it. The room was large with a nice view but sparcely decorated The shower had little pressure, but that is in most of MacDonalds Hotels. Breakfast buffet was in a dark room and only refilled when asked. The buffet didn't look appealing. Again no 4* standard.
Every morning there was a plastic tray outside each room with towels. Very hygienic on the floor in theee times. The only star I could give was for the location and the view. I strongly suggest to close this hotel and to train and educate the staff and to reinvent a new chef. And not forcing one to eat at 6 00 pm or 8.00pm . No other hotel had such regulations. I can easily proof this mismanagement with photos if requested.
