Nice place
Hi we found all the staff were very friendly and helpful, nice hotel with nice grounds and surrounding areas. Fine food in the restaurant and first class breakfast to set you up for the day. Our only fault was the distance to get into town poor taxi service in the area, we were out in town and tried to get a taxi back to the hotel but were unable to. Asked the barman if he could recommend anyone to take us back. He spoke to someone and the lad in the fishers hotel ran us back up. I would consider this when booking. I think it would a good part of the service if the hotel had a minibus to take people up and down into town. It would be worth paying a small charge for this service and give people who are not able to walk into town a bit more freedom.

Atholl palace is a lovely luxurious hotel in a lovely setting spoiled by windows that don't open.
Atholl palace is a lovely hotel in a lovely was spoiled by the windows not being able to be opened. We also heard a couple of ladies with the same complaint. There was no warning or help with this problem. Someone should have tried to open these very old and very stiff sash windows at check in. It was a sunny afternoon and evening and the room was roasting ...and thus my partner and I had little sleep.

How to get here
By Train
Pitlochry Station is on the main rail line between London, Edinburgh and Inverness. Regular trains, and one overnight sleeper train, run through Pitlochry from London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Direct trains between London Kings Cross and Pitlochry run twice daily making London just over 6 hours away.
The station at Pitlochry has a bridge that can be difficult to negotiate for visitors with disabilities. Scotrail will make sure that you have all the assistance you require if you contact them in advance. It takes around 15-20 minutes to walk to Atholl Palace Hotel from the train station. Please bear in mind it is an uphill walk.
By Car
Approaching Pitlochry from the South, take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. After passing the Blair Athol distillery on your right, continue under a railway bridge and turn right into the Atholl Palace entrance. From the north , take the A924 (signposted for Pitlochry) off the A9. The A924 is the main street through Pitlochry. Continue right through the town and turn sharp left just before the railway bridge.
Getting to Scotland By Air
The closest major airport is Edinburgh, at just over 1 hour away by car. Dundee also has a small airport, which is approximately 45 minutes drive away. Glasgow international is 90 minutes away and Prestwick 2 hours.
