1. The Farmer’s Dog

Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, in Burford exudes the kind of dog-friendly charm you would expect from Clarkson— a renowned dog lover. He has transformed the former Windmill into a Cotswold destination pub, where pups are just as welcome as people. The atmosphere is rustic with exposed beams, hearty banter, a lively marquee known as The Farmer’s Puppy and a menu sourced from British farms with the Sunday carvery being a top draw. 

2. The Porch House, Stow-on-the-Wold

Nestled in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, The Porch House is a wonderful place to recharge and relax with your furry friends. Billed as the oldest inn in England with beginnings dating back to 947 AD, you’d never guess thanks to its stylish, 21st-century interior. All the dishes are pub classics but with a Porch House pizzazz – we recommend their signature burgers. 3. The Fuzzy Duck

Originally an 18th-century coaching inn, The Fuzzy Duck is the gem of Armscote. Within this pub, you and your furry friend can dine in comfort and luxury. Dogs can accompany you to the bar area or the garden and will be given water as well as doggy biscuits and pig’s ears to keep them happy. A great rest stop for families too, children and dogs can play in the secure pub garden. Fancy a brisk stroll through the country after lunch? 4. The Kingham Plough, Chipping Norton

This smart dog-friendly country pub is a hit amongst the locals and a must-visit for those passing through. Your four-legged friend can dine with you in the bar area where there will be plenty of water and treats. Despite its somewhat modest exterior, the dishes created at The Kingham Plough are practically ambrosial! 

5. The Royal Oak, Tetbury

This refurbished 17th-century inn is a real community venue; always abuzz with local folk as well as city visitors. Super dog-friendly, your furry friend is welcome to sit with you whilst you drink and dine in the bar area. There is also a secure garden and the staff will happily offer you advice on the top dog walks in the area. The house favourite is the Real Ale Battered Fish of the Day. Even if you’re not a meat or fish eater, their vegan menu is packed full of fabulous choices too.

6. The Wild Rabbit, Kingham

Formerly the Tollgate Inn, Lady Bamford, founder of Daylesford Organic Farmshops, reinvented this traditional English pub into a stylish dog-friendly place to eat, drink and sleep. Your beloved canine companion is welcome to dine with you in the bar area. There is also plenty of space for them to stretch their legs in the front and rear gardens. Word on the street is there’s a jar of dog biscuits on the bar too! With its connection to Lady Bamford, you can expect all The Wild Rabbit’s dishes to be made from nothing but locally sourced, organic food. Set right in the heart of the pretty village of Kingham, it makes a great after-lunch stroll with your pet.

7. The Village Pub, Barnsley

A favourite haunt, The Village Pub is everything you’d expect of a dog-friendly British pub with added style. Four-legged friends will receive a warm welcome and can join you in the bar area for drinks and food. There is a wonderful sheltered back courtyard with outdoor heaters – perfect for cooler summer evenings. Combining the best of English pub food with contemporary touches, the menu changes with the seasons. 

8. The Potting Shed, Crudwell

Situated in the beautiful Cotswold triangle of Tetbury, Malmesbury and Cirencester, The Potting Shed is a perfect starting point or end stop for canine explorers and their owners. Still exuding character from the bygone era, this is a great spot for a drink or hearty meal with your furry friend. We recommend trying their chargrilled sirloin steak, sourced locally from the family farm! Pets are welcome to join you whilst you dine and drink in the bar. Plus, the outside area is great for playtime with your pooch. Stand or seat yourself by the fireplace bar during the chillier weather for a truly cosy spot. Come summertime, you and your canine companion should head out onto the picturesque village green.

10. The Double Red Duke, Clanfield

This dog-friendly 17th century coaching inn is situated in the Cotswolds village of Clanfield near Bampton. With super stylish interiors and open fires this dog‑friendly pub with rooms welcomes well‑behaved dogs both in the cosy bar and restaurant. Food here is focused on rustic, open‑fire cooking.
