Visit with my wife for an anniversary break
We checked in with the minimum of fuss, found our room was clean and comfortable, and excellent start to the stay, we were happy to rest in our room as we had been walking around Windsor and Eton along with a trip to Windsor Castle on a rainy day.
When we went to dinner they tried to seat us in the Brasserie, which wasn't comforatable so we asked and were moved back to the restaurant. we then had to wait for a menu, as the candle on our table wasn't lit another diner loaned us a lighter so I meal was candlelit! to alleviate the timing issue we skipped the starter and went straight for a main course, this took a while to arrive, before the couple on a neighbouring table got their starter! the food when it arrived was well presented and tasty. The Cheeseboard was excellent.
The next day after a good Breakfast, having realised that at the check in we had missed taking a booking for afternoon tea that was included in the deal from CountryHotelBreaks we booked in for 2pm the same day.
When we turned up ready for our Tea we were told our booking wasn't on the list!
It took a little while but we were finally fitted in for a really good tea which we appreciated having walked around Cookham and along the river.
Then finally at Dinner on the second night we saw how the hotel can operate, table ready in the restaurant, menus quickly supplied, drinks bought as soon as possible. Nice food server with no fuss and the kind of experience we expected.
So a bit of a bumpy visit but we enjoyed our stay, and my recommendation is that maybe staying on a quiet Monday night should be avoided.
Burnham Beeches Hotel
Room Ok but hairdryer not working. Toiletries not up to standard at all. Evening meals basic with limited choice. Afternoon tea excellent. Staff always helpful.
Well earned breakaway for 4
Great package through OPL at a lovely hotel. It is, however, very expensive due to food supplements, drinks etc but if you re ok with that, you ll enjoy a break at a pretty hotel just 15 minutes drive from Windsor. The swimming pool is really small as is the bar but we were lucky with the weather and enjoyed time out on the lawn.
