One night stay at Orestone Manor

Anon, stayed: October 2014

We stayed on a saturday overnight to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in the most expensive room with a jacuzzi as it was a celebration. Our room was seperate to the hotel, much like a granny annex on the side. The room itself although clean with a modern bathroom was very dated and on arrival i had to ask for the champagne which was supposed to be in the room. Although this is advertised as a Manor, it is not what you would normally expect with very limited grounds. This was a very expensive evening away and as which deserves a wow factor. Unfortunately there is not one in Orestone Manor and i would not recomend it at there present rates!

We say...

It is important you either check pictures carefully, or speak to us about your tastes and requirements, before making a selection. We love Orestone Manor, and wouldn't agree at all that this room has no wow factor - it has one of the largest private terraces we've ever seen at a UK hotel room, spectacular sea views, a super king sized antique four poster bed, and loads of space. The hotel has a fabulous restaurant and near perfect service. This room does have a separate entrance to the main hotel, as is made clear on our website, but that is a feature that gives added privacy that many people like (it's only 10 paces or so to the bar/restaurant). However, it won't be to everyone's taste, and if you want modern and sleek or funky designer style, this isn't for you.

Orestone Manor says...

Thanks for your review. We're sorry about the mistake with the Champagne, which should have been sent to your room when you arrived.

The Garden Room is designed with a Moroccan theme. We are not "advertised as a Manor", the building has been called Orestone Manor since it was built nearly 200 years ago. Plenty of images are provided of both the hotel and your room on the Offpeakluxury website and elsewhere, so we're rather puzzled that you were surprised by how it appeared.

We are unashamedly quirky and individual, so won't be to everyone's taste, but we do have many happy younger customers, and our Tripadvisor scores speak for themselves.

Disappointing stay

Christopher, Hants, stayed: June 2017

We were very much looking forward to a relaxing break. On arrival we found the toilet was not flushing. The owner came quickly and said it would be fixed during dinner. The mattress was so old, you could feel the springs through it, this was changed while we were at dinner also.  Excellent young men serving at dinner, however my calf's liver was amazing on the first night but inedible due to the sinew on the second, also my fillet steak was tough but my husband's great.  We had been assured the upgrade was worth it but found the room needed some TLC and refurbishment.

We say...

Thank you for your feedback following your stay at Orestone Manor which has been forwarded to the hotel.

Following our recent inspection we would like to comment on the room as we feel this is in excellent condition and is certainly not in need of refurbishment.  It is deliberately period-styled which we appreciate will not be to everybody's taste, however in our opinion this does suit the room and the house.  It has been enjoyed by the vast majority of customers who have stayed in it, however we are sorry to hear it was not to your liking.

Kind regards

Offpeakluxury
