Ideal location!
Centrally located for visiting Whitby and the surrounding area. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and we got our room upgrade, which was a little dissappointing, on little things, such as no towel rail or hooks to hang towels or robes, no mirror to dry hair in front of. The bed was very comfortable though and breakfast was delicious with a good selection. Pick your spa times carefully as there were a lot of children and not many loungers either, but the buggy ride from the Keep made us feel like VIP. The gardens are amazing and very well kept.

I would expect to pay these prices in summer. Most of the food was good but e.g. the crab starter was poor and the onion soup was not as expected.My walk-in shower is better than the bath/shower so not luxury.We enjoyed the spa though. Maybe stay again depends on deal.
Good
I wanted this hotel to be excellent, but I think we can only give it a 'good'. Most aspects are as would expect of a hotel of this rating. There were a few parts, which may seem trivial, that just took the 'excellent' away. Having had some spa treatments there was no space left in the relaxation room they took us to afterwards so they asked if we could just sit on some stools outside of the spa reception. The hair dryer in the room was a small travel hair dryer from Tesco. On arriving for breakfast we were told the restaurant was too busy so they would set up a few tables in the bar, not what you expect in a quality hotel.
