Excellent staff (and bedroom), welcoming and friendly with excellent food. Just a pity, as we are finding everywhere, practically; the hotel has fallen under the spell of the National obsession with and addiction to the need for adults to take dogs with them wherever they go. The result is they are inflicted on normal customers who do not want barking to punctuate an otherwise civilised, hygenic meal. Oh for a more civilised time when Public Health notices were displayed and civil manners and cosideration for others was the Norm. In normal times, normal people took dogs out for walks: now they take them out to Dinner!

Staff need more training

Overall it was good. We had booked through luxury escape as we had a voucher and we paid the difference. However when looking to book spa treatments (which were all fully booked s month in advance) we realised that the uplift was nearly as much as the package we had booked. We booked afternoon tea on the Sunday afternoon and dinner at night. There was some confusion on the afternoon tea and we was told it wasn t booked ( the reception had confirmed we had booked this when we checked in) so we couldn t have this. The conservatory area needed a good clean but the rest of the place was spotless. My biggest feedback would be staff training, the staff were friendly but nobody seemed to be in charge and the service for getting drinks was very slow. Obviously the hotel is new and I hope these issues will all be sorted over time.
