Almost perfect stay!
My wife and I were looking for a couple of nights away for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We discovered Country Hotel Breaks and loved their package deals, we got so much for our money. The hotel staff were amazing and had already booked our complimentary Junior Suite upgrade before our arrival as they were very booked up. We had our bottle of champagne chilling for us in our room with a plate of macarons with a Happy Anniversary message. Our room was spacious and lovely, we were so happy with it. The restaurant for dinner was good, but was great. Breakfast both mornings was poor, so poor that the second morning they weren t serving cooked options at all and refunded everyone for the inconvenience. The morning we did have a cooked option wasn t great as we waited an hour after ordering, and the full English was cold, missing items and had really overcooked fried eggs. The staff available couldn t apologise enough. The hotel itself if lovely and old with winding corridors and random rooms all over the place. It s so cool. The bar area seems out of the way but makes sense if you go in the summer as it opens up on to a patio at the back of the building. There s so much land to wander around and explore. Would highly recommend staying here and there are plenty of dining options nearby that would blow you away. We stumbled across The Foresters in Farnham Common and the food was nothing short of exceptional.

Elegy Written on a Country Hotel
We've very much enjoyed out stay at Stoke Place, just a short distance from Slough and within easy reach of Stoke Poges with its Thomas Gray associations. Our only criticisms would be of the time it took for our starter to be served at dinner, then having to rush coffee towards the end because the restaurant was closing. No fault of our waiter, who was helpful and courteous throughout, but the overall serving of courses could have been managed slightly better. The bedroom was fine with a lovely view across the lake, but we found it impossible to turn off one of the radiators, making the room warmer then was needed. The woman at reception the next day said that a night porter was available for such issues had we called, but it shouldn't have been a problem simply to turn off the radiator ourselves. Not that these matters detracted from our weekend, and we would certainly stay at Stoke Place on a future occasion. Both the situation and the grounds make it self-recommending.
