Pleasant stay

My wife and I stayed for three nights at this hotel. In this period of Covid we found the hotel to be very clean and the staff helpful, friendly and reassuring. We were quite disappointed with the standard of our room..located in the eaves it wasn t difficult for us to access via stairs but certainly would not have been easy for a more elderly or less mobile person. The room itself had a reasonably comfortable bed but other than that was tired and the furniture heavy, dark and dated. The bathroom was large, water pressure was good but the shower head was broken in some way which meant water came squirting out the top making it cumbersome to use without soaking the walls etc. as there was no shower cubicle. The hot tap on the bath also did not stay in any position other than full on and this we thought was dangerous and made the shower unusable. Staying for such a short time, we decided not to make an issue of it and did not mention this to the staff, we took baths instead but it was just another small thing that let the room down a little. We enjoyed our stay for the most part and had some lovely walks around the grounds and the surrounding area, the weather being fine for most of our stay. We have stayed in some very good hotels and some bad hotels and others somewhere inbetween so I would describe this hotel as a decent hotel in a nice location.

The furnishings need a complete overhaul and if our bedroom was upgraded I would not like to have stayed in a lesser room
However the food was first class
