Did not meet expectations
We arrived at 14.50 and we're advised we hadto wait until 15.00 on the dot to check in by which time there was a large queue . Our package included upgraded room on arrival we were advised all these rooms had been allocated and there were no more rooms available.
Restaurant was unfortunately very cold both in temperature and ambiance. Food was not up to a good standard and a lot of supplements to food ie 6 extra for pork belly however if you looked at the main menu the actual cost would have just been 1 more .I could go on but will end with my view this was not a luxury stay unlike other hotels that you advertise.
Mixed
The first impression was the awful, overpowering smell in the lift going to the Spa. The changing rooms weren't very clean and floors needed mopping. One of the worst spas I've been to.
Our room was lovely. Spotlessly clean, very warm.
Breakfast the first day was a complete shambles. One lady on her own. We had to ask ,water , hash browns , fresh fruit. The second day was much better
The bar was also very short staffed .15 minute wait to be served for 2 drinks and 2 bowls of chips. The food arrived separately, 1 bowl 10 minutes after the other.
Sadly we won't be coming back to this hotel..
Great Service But The Venue Wasn't Up To The Usual Off Peak Luxury Standard
I had a pleasant stay at the venue with my partner to celebrate her 40th birthday. The staff were great and the food very nice. My only complaint is that the venue wasn't up to the usual standard i have come to expect from Off Peak Luxury, which did detract from the experience that i wanted to provide to my partner. The d cor was bland, dated and in dire need of updating. Ceiling tiles were stained, broken and not fitted properly. Blinds in the restaurant were broken and unsightly and there was one table we used in the restaurant below a window that we couldn't close, which left us with a slight chill. Despite having a pleasant stay and willing to stay again, i would not book this hotel again under the label of luxury, as we found it quite average.
