Customer care not great
Staying at the hotel on my own as unfortunately my husband was called away with work
After showering, just half dressed a man appeared in my room letting him self in with a key he saw me & apologised then quickly closed the door ! Then 2 mins later a knock & housekeeping arrived the same man & a woman that was with him picked up a towel & walked in the shower & adusted the shower head then went out !! Very odd !
The next day I complained to the manager & she said she would look in to the matter & see who was on duty that night .
Came to check out different staff & no note
Great Location
The public rooms are nice but the bedrooms need a facelift. Food was very nice.
Check your bill very carefully before you pay as they add a 10-00 staff gratuity (we only stayed one night so not sure if this is per night or per stay) plus a 10% service charge on the restaurant meal without mentioning this until you get the bill. Not being mean but I do object to them adding this without even asking me. Also, be aware that it costs 10.00 a night to park in the hotel's car park.
Very good location right in the Montpelier area of Harrogate.
The Old Swan
Room was clean and adequate though 'tired'. Dinner was disappointing - undercooked hard chips and cold plates, sorted quickly. Friendly staff. Would not have booked if we'd realized it was a cashless site.
