4 nights at The Old Swan, Harrogate
Our first room was poor - only lighting was 2 bedside lamps, only 2 plug sockets, window lock damaged so could only open a few inches, shower control too tight for me to operate - we were given a room upgrade which was better from above points of view, but was above parking area for tour buses and dustbins, so very noisy early morning and evenings & poor outlook. The chamber maid gave up on us for last night and didn t replenish water, hot chocolate, sanitary bags! The towels were lovely, as were the sheets. Bed very comfortable. Food was very good, but breakfast service disappointing as they started clearing up almost as soon as we arrived at 9.20 (service was until 9.30 supposedly) & at 9am the next morning. Ok at weekend but very busy & we found it quite stressful at breakfast self service - not at all relaxing! The hotel was not as up-market as we were expecting.

Not as good as Premier Inn.
Corridor lights on all night, admitting light around bedroom door, thus disturbing sleep. It took a very long time for water in ensuite basin to warm up. "Hot" breakfast was cold. Dinner menu very limited and overpriced.

Parking
Onsite parking is available, with 4 designated disabled spaces. The parking is regulated by Harrogate Borough Council and if you wish to park your car with us you must display a valid permit purchased from reception on arrival. All parking is subject to availability and operates on a first come first served basis.
Directions From the South
M1 to A1 to Wetherby, then exit onto A661 to Harrogate.
Follow signs to Ripon and town centre.
Drive down Parliament Street, straight across the traffic lights at the bottom, and up Ripon Road. After approximately 150 yards, turn left into
Swan Road.
Directions From the North
A1 to A61 signed for Ripon and Thirsk.

Just a short walk from Harrogate town centre and 15 minutes from Harrogate Railway Station, the hotel is only a 5 minutes walk from the famous Betty's Tearoom
In addition to Betty's Tearooms, Harrogate is famous for its Pump Room and elegant Spa buildings, wide open green spaces.
Harrogate's most famous spa building, the Royal Pump Room, is built over the site of the strongest sulphur spring in England and the water can still be sampled today. The museum features some original Royal Bath treatments, as well as fine examples of ceramics, jewellery and costume. Nearby is The Mercer Art Gallery, originally opened in 1806 as The Promenade Room. This houses the Permanent Fine Art Collection, plus two lively exhibition spaces.
In July, the town and the hotel hosts the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, as well as a series of festivals throughout the year.
Close by is the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales with walks, places of interest to visit and activities for all ages.
