A few niggles lowered it from the excellent to the good.
A beautiful building in a lovely setting, and in an excellent location, however a few niggles lowered it from the excellent to the good category. We weren't warned that the car park was up a very steep slope. Although not disabled enough to have badges, and therefore park near the entrance, we do both have health problems that made this difficult. The room, although very pleasant was extremely poorly lit, all except the en-suite which was very bright. Unfortunately the light switch was outside on the bedroom wall so any night forays to the bathroom tended to wake up my wife. The restaurant was almost divided in half but only by a flimsy curtain so the first night when a large noisy party was in one half we literally couldn't hear each other speak. There seemed to be no option of another location to eat. On the good side the food was mostly very good and the staff very friendly, although most seemed very young and inexperienced. The two wedding parties we saw while there seemed to be having a good time and it may be that this hotel is better to book a wedding at than stay as a couple. On the whole we did enjoy our break but I'm afraid we wouldn't return .
