Great food, nice staff, but confusion over the bill

Overall a nice experience, excellent food and a comfortable room. I would happily visit again. But...
the special offer included ' 20 credit per room each evening towards beverages with your meal'. Over 2 nights this should have come to 40, but only 20 was allowed on our final bill, and I had to explain to reception that this wasn't right, which then seemed to create a bad atmosphere, as if I was cheating them out of something. The offer also said 'dinner for 2 each evening, 30 per person allowance'. I assumed this was 30 each person each evening (about the price of 2 courses) but only one 30 per person was allowed on the final bill, i.e. 15 per person per evening, which is not quite enough even for just the main course. I couldn't persuade the receptionist about this so ended up paying more than I expected and feeling a bit cheated. Hence the 'OK' rating, because this spoiled what would otherwise have been pretty good.

It was OK

The view of the bins was less than inspiring. At lot of the wall decorations are BBC 'icons'. Unfortunately, in our room we had pictures of Kenny Everett in drag staring at us. At least it wasn't Jimmy Savile.
Attention to detail in the room would have helped. Fix the wonky loo seat. Change the flickering light bulb. Remove the insects from the bathroom light fitting.
Not the luxury hoped for but we didn't not enjoy our stay. Food was good.

Impressive building, underwhelming but a stay with some highlights

We went for dinner bed and breakfast at the Wood Norton. Our overall experience was unfortunately underwhelming. The staff struggled to provide the expected levels of service under Covid conditions. The property itself is impressive, our Queen room was very spacious, albeit poorly lit. The shower room was huge and the shower was excellent. We were expecting a bit more for the money.
