Be warned
On check-in we were given keys to a Pear Tree Mews room. Upon walking to room I checked booking confirmation and we had booked a Main Hall Executive Double. Upon returning to Reception I was advised, yes, you were called yesterday ref. room change (de-grade) and a bottle of Prosecco was in our room. We did not receive this call and we don't drink Prosecco.
On check-out we could not understand the higher than expected drinks bill and were advised that the 20 credit per room each evening towards our drinks with dinner (part of the package that we booked) did not include pre-dinner drinks. This was at best, misleading. We challenged this and the receptionist re-instated the credits "on this occasion".
Disappointing
We booked 2 Luxury Executive rooms. Our friends' room was of this type but ours was under the eaves, dark, we had to have the lights on whenever we were in the room, and there was a profuse leak each time a bath was run.
such a shame
We have stayed at the Wood Norton several times before over the years. On some occasions it has been excellent, on others (and this was one of them) not good. The staff are charming and very apologetic when things go wrong, but it doesn't alter the fact that the stay is spoilt. Our evening meal was considerably more expensive that when we last visited (in November), the menu choice was limited, we were kept waiting an hour and a half for our main course and when it arrived the food was
not good. The Caesar salad was slimey and so full of anchovies that the fishy taste was overwhelming and my pork was so dried out it was like eating [] Such a shame.
