What a hidden gem!
Stayed for a cheeky night away from the muddy - made to feel very welcome by receptionist Beth (?) the moment we arrived. It was a quiet Friday night, but great food and attentive service
Impressive building sympathetically modernised whilst retaining original features
A 2 night stay with relatives including excellent breakfast and good menu choice for evening meal. All the staff were helpful, motivated and friendly and the rooms well equipped. Loved the shower and bath in our first floor room.
Lovely break
The hotel was set in beautiful surroundings with plenty of parking. We were staying as a group of 4 friends and had met earlier than check in to spend the afternoon together. The hotel staff were fantastic and let us check in 2 hours early as our rooms were ready.
The rooms were very clean with extremely comfortable super king beds. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. We ate in the restaurant as part of our stay, we were a little underwhelmed with the atmosphere and the menu was lacking with 3 fish dishes, beef or 1 vegetarian option. We all opted for a different dish and even though well cooked, lacking flavour. The cheeseboard however was amazing, other desserts were mediocre. We had a drink in the hotel bar, which again was sadly lacking atmosphere and very quiet with no background music and bored looking staff. The breakfast was very tasty, with plenty of options and the staff attentive. A great bonus not having to check out until 12.30 the next day.
Overall we had a lovely stay but wished the food had lived up to the amazing hotel. Would stay here again but not visit the restaurant.
