Superb Short Break
My wife and I had a wonderful, relaxed stay at the Wood Norton Hotel over Valentine's Day and the following night.
The Wood Norton is easily accessible just off a main road (A44) and in an elevated position giving nice views from the gardens at the front of the hotel.
The hotel is beautiful both inside and out, is very clean and the friendly staff are, helpful, chatty and nothing is too much trouble.
Our Queen Hall Room was a stunning wood panelled, three room suite consisting of lounge area, beautiful bedroom, and spacious bathroom.
The lounge had a Nespresso machine as well as kettle with ample stock of capsules for the machine, a good selection of teas and plenty of milk pots. In the bedroom the king size was comfortable, along with a good sized wardrobe, containing warm shower robes, and there were a good number of plug sockets. The bathroom had a beautiful free standing bath, huge walk in shower, quality towels and stocked with Molton Brown toiletries.
The restaurant was pleasant and the food was of a good standard but the service was a little slow at times. Our food at dinner wasn't piping hot but was tasty and plentiful. We were also disappointed that the menu hadn't changed the following evening. Breakfast was excellent but the choice diminishes if you go for the later sittings.
We also benefited from the food and room package which was a generous 30 per person, per night with a discount on bottles of wine.
We would thoroughly recommend the Wood Norton and in particular the Queen Hall room (No 101).
Meals
I explained on booking and a week before our visit that there were two vegetarians in our party one of which needed a gluten free meal. I was assured this was no problem. There was only one choice of starter and one of main course she could have. I was concerned that she would have to eat mushroom risotto for three days. I spoke about my concerns and appropriate meals were provided for the next two nights. Well done to the staff for meeting our needs. The other items on the menu were excellent in particular the asparagus starter and the lamb main course.
The breakfasts were lovely as were the gin and tonics.
Very pleasant stay
A delightful hotel tucked away in the country. The food was very good although on the second night the restaurant was busy and there was a large gap between starters and main. Breakfast was very well organised and no delays no matter how busy it was. My wife unfortunately left behind her jewellery so the hotel arranged for it to be posted and arrived safely.
