One night stay
A large hotel, rather dated. It really belongs to a bygone age, and in fact was commissioned by the BBC in WWII. Nevertheless, it is very comfortable and the restaurant is good. However, it is a hotel frequently used for conferences, weddings, etc - particularly groups from the adjacent BBC training establishment. As expected, these large groups create a good deal of noise, so the atmosphere is often not relaxing.

Pleasant Country House Hotel
First impression was very good. The exterior of the building is beautiful. Very nice room with a great view on the second floor but the lift was out of order. Tea coffee and bottled water in the room everyday was a big plus. Excellent breakfast. There was a beautiful outside terrace where you could have drinks and /or dinner.
What the hotel didnt get right was evening dinner. We were on a deal that gave us a 30 credit per person for dinner and 20 per room for drinks with dinner. We were able to have a perfectly adequate two course meal within this allowance but I cant see many local people being attracted by the prices.
30 for fillet steak and chips (there were cheaper mains) and 9 for all the deserts. These are West End prices not West Midlands.
When we checked out our bill was 40 over what it should have been. This was eventually rectified but was not a good way to end our stay.
Overall we enjoyed our visit.
