Complaint handling
We enjoyed our stay at The Wood Norton however on the first night dining in the restaurant my wife had turbot which was not at all pleasant. We complained but only could talk to the waitress who went off spoke to someone and in the end gave us 10% off just that dish. In my view very badly handled. If there is a complaint then let management sort it not a waitress and the meal should not have been charged. I did pay as if they had sorted properly I could have said how well they had done but as they did not even come to see me this is the review I have unfortunately had to leave. It is not the money it is the service !!!! For the rest of our stay the food was great so it was a great pity .
The Cotswolds Getaway
We wanted a nice relaxing, but slightly indulgent get away for my wife who has not been well of late. The hotel is nicely situated between local attractions and was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking. What we did notice was a lack of staff in the areas of services for the bar and the restaurant. Bar food and eating in the restaurant was not the best. Also, prices were high for the quality of food provided. The rooms were average and not anything special. We got the impression the hotel was lacking Front line staff and the rooms were in need of some renovation and TLC. Sadly, for us, the hotel did not live up to expectations.
Wood Norton Hotel stay
We booked the Wood Norton as a base for a tour of the cotswolds, as part of our Anniversary. We pre-booked a dinner, bed and Breakfast option, and our initial impression was good on arrival. The hotel is relatively small at first glance, being a mid sized manor house, but there is a new block of rooms on the back which more than doubles the hotel size. We booked a room in the old house, which is where the prestige rooms are based, and there is lots of character in these rooms, which, combined with the history of the house gives it sense of romantic character. After an initial poor night's sleep on our first night, the hotel team were extremely swift in moving us to a better room - an upgrade to one of their best suites, so we were suitably impressed.
The restaurant food was of very good quality, albeit from a non changing menu, but we had enough options to have a different meal each night, and it was always fresh and of great quality - the waiting staff were young, but lovely and attentive, did an excellent job, and we had only good words for them .
On the whole, a relaxing, quality base for exploring the surrounding countryside.
