ok stay
The room - luxury hall feature room was impressive on first sight huge comfy bed and wood panelled walls but was let down by grey modern wardrobe and chest of draws etc - flat pack special? There were few and far between power points of which one looked decidedly unusable. There was also a constant loud hum in the room which made sleeping impossible for a light sleeper -me. Was temped to sleep in the bath as the adjoining bathroom was luxurious, warm and blissfully quiet! When i mentioned to the reception the loud hum was told that It was to be expected in a hotel of that age!!
I have stayed in MANY hotels of all ages and know that is not the case. I believe it was actually the aircon making the noise? Let me know in advance and I'd have the choice to book - or not! We went to the bar for an early drink before our meal and had to wait an age to be served as the bar person was also the receptionist who was torn between two jobs. The food was good despite the limited menu, we would have appreciated being able to choose from the bar menu too for the evening meal to add variety but that was not allowed. Breakfast - there very few tables occupied when we went for breakfast and on the first morning the breakfast was enjoyable apart from forgetting my husbands 'eggs Florentine' , the second morning only four tables were occupied and we had to wait an age for our breakfast - porridge and eggs benedict. I know good food takes time but this was unreasonable during a quiet time. On the whole I would say the hotel would be a fantastic wedding/conference venue but not sure I'd recommend just for a short break? This is my honest opinion of our stay.

Good but areas for improvement
The hotel itself is wonderful. A period property with charm and rooms that our both relaxing and luxurious. The staff are helpful, the bar and general demeanour of the hotel relaxing. The restaurant however is lacking. Whilst the food is good it is not of the price value noted in the menu and the service under par. If the restaurant was of a higher standard then this would be a knock out hotel. The local town of Evesham has little to offer in terms of eating out and as such all the more reason to get the restaurant up to the expected standards of a hotel of this level and charge rate. that being said we had a very relaxing break and we would return.
