Pleasant stay but heating needs to be addressed.
Generally a pleasant stay, helpful staff.
Room a little dated, needed more information on how to regulate heating in the room. as this caused a problem.
Could have been better.
Location is excellent and good welcome on arrival The hotel is a lovely building and well furnished and neat and tidy. The restaurant food especially the evening meals was a a very limited choice. The quality was very good. Breakfast offered a good choice of cooked food. Cereals and and fruit available. Surprisingly no cold meats/cheese or bread rolls available.
Biggest disappointment was the room. The shower was dangerous. Set the temperature, stand under it and suddenly it was scalding. All to do with lack of constant cole pressure. The shower mixer should be thermostatically controlled to prevent this. The shower rose had been replaced but would not fit in the holder and had to be hand held (same problem with the scalding). Radiator in bathroom would not work. Towel rail worked but insufficient to heat what was a large bathroom. Basic soaps and shampoos - no shower caps. The room heating could not be controlled it had to be either 24 degrees or turned off. Room was well furnished clean and comfortable. TV reception was poor. There were no extras such as a safe/mini bar/ writing paper and pen. We reported the shower/radiator/heating/tv the next morning after breakfast the next morning. Nothing was done. I fiddled with the TV aerial and got it working. Third morning hotel hadroblems and there was no hoy water at all. They did offer us a shower facility prior to leaving and also reduced the bill by 50 due to our inconveniences.
Short stay
The reception staff were very welcoming but the restaurant staff were, except for a few of the younger waitresses, very rude and the service was so slow.
When dining at 7.00 pm we were told that othe starter we ordered was 'sold out'.
At breakfast the person in charge could not cope and service was very slow.
The room was comfortable but the shower kept going changing to cold - probably because so many people using at same time.,
The grounds were lovely.
