The Wood Norton
A pleasant stay overall but we have stayed at better hotels at a similar price in the Cotswolds. We stayed in an executive room in the main building, all the basic requirements are catered for, toiletries, hair dryer etc however, the furniture is tired and I d only describe the room as adequate.
The hotel in general is fine and seems to have been recently decorated. The bar area and restaurant are good and the food is excellent when you finely get it. Taking into account the situation with COVID we know that it s difficult to get staff and a level of tolerance is needed but waiting over an hour for a starter on two evenings of our three day stay is pushing it. The majority of the restaurant staff are very inexperienced.
The rest of the hotel staff were fine but we did encounter some surliness from a couple of them not good!
The garden is nice with a seating area for drinks etc and has extensive views over the surrounding countryside so no complaints there.
Lovely location, run down and understaffed
The location, view and manor are breathtaking. They are somewhat rundown however and in need of refurbishment. Staffing consisted of few managers and several inexperienced staff which showed.
Room service forgot to attend the room . Response from the night shift manger was that they were overwhelmed.
Initial disappointment but got better
Arrived at the hotel had to wait half an hour after the check in time before being allocated room 402 in the Peartree mews complex, the room turned out to be insufferably hot and with no air conditioning built into the complex was totally unacceptable Asked at reception if they could supply at least a fan ,but none was available.Reception was finally able to provide room 313 which was acceptable Thanks to the receptionist and cleaning staff for finding a usable room. There were no other issues
