fourth time lucky??
Have stayed several times before. this was the most disappointing. Room Gorgeous, Restaurant food excellent. Location superb and generally the relaxed cossetting ambience we have come to look forward to. All spoilt by the dreaded wedding party. A feature of the hotel is the terrace from which to enjoy the superb views in peace and quiet whilst sipping a cocktail. On two separate occasions the venue was invaded by loud raucous women in ill fitting dresses and foul mouthed drunken yobs in overly tight shiny blue suits. We residents were literally hounded out and had to seek refuge some distance away to avoid the melee. No spare seating available. Getting a drink at the bar became impossible, after twenty five minutes I asked the receptionist to get me a drink,, but she claimed not to be trained to do so??. After forty five minutes I asked again, eventually I got one pint of lager. People get married and want to enjoy their day, that's fine. Hotels can cater for this, that's fine too. But for goodness sake have adequate staff to cope with these influxes and ideally keep the rabble rousers away from the civilized paying guests. And certainly don't make us feel like we are being a nuisance. By all means sample the joys of this generally delightful hotel, but do make sure you check beforehand to find out if there is a wedding on..and avoid at all cost
Meals
I explained on booking and a week before our visit that there were two vegetarians in our party one of which needed a gluten free meal. I was assured this was no problem. There was only one choice of starter and one of main course she could have. I was concerned that she would have to eat mushroom risotto for three days. I spoke about my concerns and appropriate meals were provided for the next two nights. Well done to the staff for meeting our needs. The other items on the menu were excellent in particular the asparagus starter and the lamb main course.
The breakfasts were lovely as were the gin and tonics.

An impressive hotel with fine wood panelling. Lovely setting with lawns and large terrace overlooking the Vale of Evesham.
Staff friendly and helpful but service slow due to a shortage of staff.
