Great Hotel
Stayed for one night on a Dinner, B/B basis. The staff were all excellent, friendly and professional. Dinner was very good quality and we had a lovely table in the window with the most amazing views. Breakfast was of equal quality, loads of choice and the best omelette I have had for a long time. Hotel is in a lovely setting and the public rooms were well furnished. We were a little disappointed with our room, it was clean and comfortable but it was small and could have done with a little TLC, however that was our fault for choosing a standard room, definitely worth upgrading. Overall a really lovely stay, we will be back.
Ideal location for a relaxing break
We looked online at several hotels in the Cotswolds area, and are glad we choose The Bear. The hotel is a little remote, but nice walks on the doorstep and easily accessible and not far to drive to places of interest. We stayed in The Country House, which is adjacent to the main building. Although The Country House is a little dated (brown paint!), it was extremely clean, and our room had a comfortable bed and good bath/shower. Toiletries provided were generous and high quality. The room was quiet and overlooked the valley and Stroud Valley beyond. The main building, and spacious garden area, had plenty of varied places to sit and enjoy a drink. All staff without exception were cheerful and efficient and a credit to the hotel. We had a pleasant dinner in the hotel one evening, and the breakfast options were varied and delicious. Ample parking and no issues with WiFi.
Perfect Setting
We had a fabulous 2 day break, the staff were so attentive, very experieced and very friendly. The hotel was very clean and the restaurant was beautifully set out food delicious and it was such a pleasure to dine here. The setting outside was almost continenta with a lovely bar and seating.
I would book a slightly bigger room next time as ours was cosy rather than spacious however it had everything needed for a short stay.
