St Valentine trip
Room newly refurbed and pleasant, but no cupboards or drawers for storage. Serving staff very pleasant and helpful but completely overrun. 50 minute wait for jug of water typical of overloaded staffing. Had to go to bar to obtain wine.

Stay spoiled by numerous lack-of-attention details, some significant.
We had booked an overnight accommodation deal in a superior room, requesting one of the 3 rooms with a bath. This included prosecco on arrival, afternoon tea and 35 pp towards our evening meal. On arrival, we were told that afternoon tea was not available on Sundays - disappointing, and not made clear at point of booking. Our request for a room with a bath was not fulfilled nor referred to on check-in and I doubt it was read from out booking. The hotel was not busy, so I believe it likely the superior room with bath was available, but we were given the one with a shower for ease of cleaning. We deferred the prosecco to our evening meal, but had to remind staff that we were due it. For the evening meal, our reserved table was in the bar, next to the counter-top that was sagging with the weight of dirty glasses awaiting cleaning. More were piled up there during our meal. I got the impression that staff were minimised, hence we were in the bar, and glass washing was a get-round-to-it activity. On check-out, we had to remind staff of the terms of the accommodation deal as we were charged the full price for our evening meals. Lovely location, nice building in good condition, but staff not attentive to details and the description of the stay terms inadequate, resulting in the disappointment of no afternoon tea on Sunday..
