Friendly staff but restaurant lacked atmosphere
Waiting staff were friendly but there was no atmosphere. Restaurant area was very tired, threadbare carpet and loose tiles on floor. The curry was more like soup, my husband had to ask for a spoon to eat it. The hotel needs updating.
Certainly not Luxury.
On arrival to our room we were rather disappointed due to the condition of the room. Damp patches on the walls with plaster falling off, and very very dark. The room was meant to be a deluxe river view, but this was definitely not the case. You could not see the river through the fencing/hedges.
After putting our bags in our room we went to get our welcome cocktails from the bar where the waitress said to my husband "you don't have to order a cocktail, it will save me faffing making one, you can have beer if you want". This is not very professional. When we went to the restaurant for our booked table we placed our orders straight away due to already choosing our food. After 50 minutes I had to ask for our starters to get a response that they have a function on, so they are very busy. Then I had to ask for cutlery etc. There was several other tables complaining that night also. If we didn't have a voucher to use we would have left and eaten else where. The local area is lovely along with the 2 other pubs in the village that we went to as they had a better atmosphere.

The gorgeous Tatton Park is accessible via a short drive and offers a perfect location for a scenic stroll. The estate features a sizeable mansion house, but the real highlight is the picturesque Parkland, where deer bound across the open fields and swans cruise across the surface of a quiet lake. The hotel is also happy to provide maps and guides, which will allow you and your hound to sniff out some of the local area's wonderful walks. The vibrant city of Manchester is also accessible via a short drive or train journey, providing plenty of cracking spots to explore.
