A wonderful start to the new year
We enjoyed a day of luxury at the Danesfield and were delighted to receive a room upgrade on arrival.
Everything was excellent in every way, especially the food and service. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much to all the staff who made our stay so memorable and enjoyable.
Fabulous 4 nights away
From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed. Staff very friendly and helpful, even ringing through to make sure we were happy with our room. We did upgrade so we were outside the main building in the Tower which was a stunning room very spacious with lots of extra space and with table, chairs and sofa. obviously newly refurbished.. Breakfast was waiter / waitress service, with wonderful choices and all cooked to perfection. We ate in the first night and again the food was excellent and very well presented and very attentive staff.
We made good use of the Spa swimming pool and hot tub.
We loved the history of the hotel having been requisitioned in the 40 s becoming RAF Medmenham s headquarters vital photographic intelligence HQ. It has stunning 65 acres of ground overlooking the Thames. Great location with Henley close by.
Wouldn t hesitate to stay here again. Really felt rejuvenated.
I just wish the staff would wear name badges so we didn t have to ask them, just a small thing.
Lovely venue, needs money spending on it and staff training in restaurants
Our bedroom which we upgraded was fabulous, but the bathroom had mould on the ceiling, there was no walk in shower and there was a shower curtain rather than a panel. The sink taps didn t work well. The champagne that should have been waiting in our room was not there and to be honest, a top notch b snd b could have done better, be it not with the beautiful building and surroundings.
The staff were professional and friendly and the food was gorgeous, be it we only had access to the seasonal menu in mid January, but we were disappointed to have our dinner plates cleared whilst one of us was still eating, even though we asked the waiter to wait. The response to that was don t worry, I ll come back for that one .
Overall, we felt it was beautiful, we enjoyed ourselves, but it was not worth the cost with the aforementioned issues and certainly not the upgrade. This review was our experience but with a refurbished bathroom and a little training, it would have been perfect.
